There is, however, one small, good thing here: I have not given up. I read every day; I write every day. I’m reminded that I know what I want. I’m reminded that if disappointment is all that I must bear, I can bear it—I can welcome it.

From a 2009 lecture by renowned graphic designer Chip Kidd, discussing several of his recently finished projects.
The image refers to Celine Dion and Vegas. Kidd also tackles his covers for All-Star Superman and Batman and Robin.

Hey, any chance of getting the art from those chibi Iron Man and GL shirts as wallpapers? (I don't use Tumblr, but my e-mail is ElijahKS@gmail.com .)

You read my mind. I was actually just working on that. Now just to find a place to make it available for download. :)

Thanks for viewing my work!

This is the biggest painting of the toy series. I took all my old toys and dumped them into a glass jar. I shook em up, until I liked the composition. Assortment of Toys, oil on canvas, by Allan Innman

I sold a couple of shirts on RedBubble.

Thanks, guys, whoever you are. Please do come back for more!

SuperHamm

Awesome. Although, looking at this now, it feels like he’s better suited to playing the hardscrabble, craggy persona of the Kingdom Come Superman.

The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case.
Chuck Close. The greatest advice of all time. (via doublethinkdesign)
